At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

dance;
b. enumerate the tribal dances; and
c. appreciate the significane of
each dance.

Overview:
Many tribes throughout the world
feature tribal dances unique to their culture. Some tribal dances recall war
victories, whereas others are influence by tribal religion. The history of the
tribe is sometimes recounted through dance.

bird dance performed by the T’boli during planting and harvesting which
simulates the flight and hops of the tahaw bird.

The
Bagobo tribe from the central uplands of Mindanao originated this dance which
imitates the movements of a hen, her banog, or baby chickens, and a hawk. The
hawk is sacred, and it is believed that the hawk has the power over the
well-being of the tribe. The Hawk tries to capture one of the chicks and is
killed by the hunters.
